July 14, 2021, Headed by Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District, Division 3A, 2022-2023 Lieutenant Governor Elect Grace Bondad Nicolas and her mother Remy Bondad, another community outreach was held, this time for the farmers in Barangay Imok, Calauan, Laguna, in cooperation with the Department of Agrarian Reform.

One of its objective is to connect the farmers to the Department in order to air their situation and needs.

“Despite being in a crisis, our heart is to help out, and even the deadly virus can’t stop us, there are always ways to help, so I am encouraging everyone to do the same.” – GBN

And Mer-Nel’s, headed by its CEO, Ms. Merle Mendoza Batican, is one of the very first to respond to her call. Mrs. Batican, despite her humble beginnings has shown to the Filipinos that passion and ingenuity partnered with a generous heart really pays off. Mer-Nel has always been one with Ms. Nicolas outreach initiatives, providing sacks of rice, food, and even their cakes to the indigents. This is their way of giving back, also their CSR, sharing their blessings to the less unfortunate.

Mer-Nel’s Cake House and Variety Shop was established in 1996 in Laguna with the dream of making it known nationwide and to become part of every Filipino occasion and household celebrations. It captivated the tastebuds of the locals since then, and by word of mouth, has become known to non-residents as well.

The once dream for Mer-Nel’s CEO has now turned into a reality. You’ll see thousands of resellers and branches at SM and people are lining up just to get their products to their families.

Mer-Nels by the way was recognized as the SME Company of the Year at the Asia Leaders Awards 2020 and Mrs. Merle Mendoza Batican is one of the women leaders to be awarded this year by the same award giving body.
